This page will feature my original songs and cover songs that I have recorded either with a band or by myself.  Enjoy!!

Song: Love Potion #9

Back when I lived in Reno NV, I was playing music and trying to record my own songs and cover songs as much as possible.  A friend of mine really liked this song so I thought I would try to recreate the Herb Alpert version on tenor sax.  I think it turned out not too bad.  Again, I recorded it on my Yamaha 4 track tape deck in my living room.  I played every instrument you hear.  The Bari sax and the hors were done on my Baldwin IKE sampler.  I hand played the drum parts on the keyboard as well.  This was a fun song to play and at the time I was able to learn much about my instrument capabilities.  At 1:22 to 1:23 into the song listen close for the sound of a whip crack.  Wish I would have made it punch a bit more!

Song: Star Search by Byron Campbell

This song was written by Byron Campbell Copyright 1987 - All rights reserved.  Do not copy or download.

At the time Byron was a pit Supervisor of Table Games at Harrah's Reno.  I was a Slot Supervisor there as well.  I was playing in my band "Situation" on the weekends.  Dave Edson also worked at Harrah's and was a keyboard player/songwriter.  Dave asked if I would be interested in playing on a song for the recording they were doing.  I eagerly accepted.  We all got together one night and recorded Star Search.  I had never heard it before that night.  I know I laid down 3 or 4 tracks with my tenor sax.  In the end they used a couple of tracks and blended them a bit.  Overall, I was very pleased with my portion and feel it was one of the best sax solos/background effort of my playing career.  The song is great and all of the vocals were spot on!  The lead guitar is excellent but I don't remember his name.

I have tried to connect with Byron but have not been able to find him online.  Thanks Byron for the opportunity to play on this song.

Song: Can't You See

So, my sister gave me her flute from when she was in high school.  I wanted to learn to play it and thought this song by The Marshall Tucker Band would be cool to play.  I taught myself to play the flute for this song.  It's not the best recording as we were just learning to play it and recorded it during a practice session.  And that's me on background vocals during the chorus and at the end with the counterpoint.  From a recorded practice session with my 2nd band, Situation, in Reno NV back in 1985-86.

Song: Blues Instrumental with Keenan and Byron

From a recorded practice session with my 2nd band in Reno NV back in 1985-86.  I play tenor sax and the late Byron Walker is on lead guitar.  At 3:26 into the song Byron takes over the solo guitar.  I love his mournful melody.  Brian Grimm had the 1st guitar solo.  Bill Lapham was on bass.  Tracy Gallaway was on drums.  Byron just started playing the chords and we all chimed in improvisationally.  This band was called Situation.  We played in and around Reno NV and Truckee CA.

Song: Moondance

From a recorded jam session with my 1st band in Reno NV back in 1985.  I play tenor sax and the late Byron Walker is on lead guitar.  One of the 1st songs he and I played together.  I love how he weaves around my sax during the last half of the song with counters and harmonies.  It's our own version and we did play this at all of our future gigs with this band and the band Situation.  This is definitely a M. O. M. for me!!

Song: Waitin' For The Right One

This original song was written for my wife Lisa before we were married.  It reflects my feelings in regards to how hard it seemed to find the right person to spend your life with.  I was lucky to find her and so I wrote about it.  With help from Jim Ouimette and his friends we played this song at our wedding.  We have been together through thick and thin and are still going strong!
